The Producer Fly was originally created to target striped bass using the FlyCore technique in Southern California's deep reservoirs in 2011. Soon after, largemouth bass also began being caught as "incidental" catches, including fish over 10 lbs. Since then, it has been responsible for getting the attention of multiple species of gamefish, such as crappie, trout, catfish, walleye, smallmouth bass, bluegill, and even some west coast saltwater fish have been caught using the Producer Fly!
What sets the Producer Fly apart from most of the other baitfish imitations is the softness of the material, along with the way it is built, giving it a more fluid action in the water. The appeal of the Producer Fly is in it's natural appearance, it's near weightlessness, it's quiet approach and swimming action, and it's versatility. While it was created to be used with FlyCoring, it has also been used with other techniques such as dropshotting, Carolina rigging, behind a water bubble, and, of course, using a traditional fly rod and reel. Please think outside the box and let us know if you find a new way to use it!
